Thigaterra, The art of slow food

The award-winning restaurant Thigaterra, The art of slow food, focuses and seeks good, clean and fair food from the production stage to the presentation on your table. At the same time, it is a place where the primary sector plays a major role and talks directly with you.

The mission of the Slow Food movement is to save the culinary tradition of each place and to awaken our culinary habits.

It is an eco-gastronomy movement that, with the actions of its members in every corner of the world, encourages us to adopt a different philosophy in our daily diet, while aiming to the gradual redefinition of our taste habits and requirements.


The collaboration with the Cretan Ark team is meant to be and completely interactive.

 

 

Next to the olive oil bar which has more than 25 labels of extra virgin olive oil, stands the imposing monastery table with the restaurant cellar as a background. Here, 70 wine labels await to offer you the ultimate tasting experience.


This olive oil and wine tasting guided by the experts, will turn into a unique experience which will then largely determine your choices.

– Olive Oil Tasting with food pairing option

  1. Guidance from a certified olive oil sommelier
  2. Water (sparkling or mineral)
  3. Extra Virgin Olive Oil from four (4) selected brands from different regions of Crete
  4. Apples
  5. Bread
  6. Special Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting Glasses

Food pairing cost:

  • €25/person

Food pairing includes a comprehensive menu of four (4) dishes with the chef’s recipes that are inspired by the Cretan cuisine and perfectly match the taste profile of the selected olive oils.

Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours

The course is held in Greek or English.

– Wine tasting with food pairing option

  1. Guidance from a certified wine taster.
  2. Water (carbonated or mineral)
  3. Five (5) wine labels exclusively from the Cretan vineyard (2 white dry, 1 rosé, 2 red dry)
  4. Various types of local cheeses and charcuterie (finger food)
